Did you know this about the Portuguese language?
- Portuguese is spoken by more than 200 million people worldwide.
- In 2009, three new letters were added to the alphabet: “K,” “W,” and “Y.” In 2009, Portuguese-speaking countries around the world came together to sign a new agreement introducing the letters “K,” “W,” and “Y.”
- Galician, spoken in northwestern Spain, is closely related to Portuguese.
- European and Brazilian Portuguese differ quite a bit from one another. It’s even difficult for Brazilians to understand European Portuguese.
