With this course you work toward level A1+. You will deepen your grammar, learn simple conversation and get acquainted with classical Russian literature.
About the Russian 3 course
Do you want to speak Russian with more confidence and go beyond the basics? In this course, you’ll work on grammar, speaking, listening, and reading skills. You’ll practice more complex language, such as reflexive verbs, style, and idioms, and discover excerpts from Russian literature. This will help you develop a better feel for the language, understand its structure more deeply, and use and study the language with increasing independence.
In 9 Russian lessons:
- you’ll get a comprehensive overview of the most important grammatical elements of Russian;
- you’ll be working with more complex grammar, such as reflexive verbs;
- you will learn the letters of the Cyrillic alphabet;
- you will delve into Russian style and idioms;
- you can study Russian more and more independently;
- You’ll get to know some of Russia’s greatest writers and poets.
In this course, you will work toward achieving language level A1. By the end of the course, you will understand the most important grammatical structures and be able to use Russian with greater confidence and ease.

Who is it for?
This course is for anyone who already has a reasonable foundation in Russian, but wants to express themselves more confidently and precisely. You don’t want to get stuck in loose rules or doubts about grammar, but rather get more structure and depth. The language of instruction during the course is Dutch, but the teacher also speaks Russian whenever possible. You are motivated to actively practice outside the lessons. In this way you make rapid progress and get the most out of the lessons.

Approach
You work alternately in pairs, small groups and classrooms. You will work specifically on more advanced grammatical elements, style and idiom. The lessons are practice-oriented and small-scale, with room for speaking and listening exercises, so that you learn to actively apply the material.
Teaching Materials
You will work with the book “Passport to Russia” (text and workbook), supplemented with additional exercises. In addition, the teacher uses own material to repeat and deepen what you have learned. You will also be introduced to excerpts from famous Russian classics. Before the start of the course we will inform you how you can easily order the teaching materials, so that you can start your lesson well prepared.
Teachers
You will be taught by an experienced teacher who will guide you step by step in your learning process. The teacher provides targeted feedback on your pronunciation, grammar and communication. You will also gain insight into Russian culture, customs and language use, so that the language really comes to life.
Certificate of Participation
You will receive a certificate of participation from us if you have actively participated in at least 80% of the meetings.
