About the German 4 course

Are you planning to study in a German-speaking country? Or do you have a job that requires you to speak German fairly well? Or do your in-laws only speak German? In this course, you’ll work on your speaking skills, vocabulary, and grammar. This will help you express yourself more precisely and communicate with German speakers with greater confidence.

In 9 German lessons:

  • you’ll discuss current topics in German;
  • you’ll find it easier to write a persuasive email;
  • you’ll speak more fluently in everyday conversations;
  • you’ll expand your vocabulary;
  • you can recognize subtle differences in the German language and know how to apply these differences in spoken and written texts;
  • you’ll brush up on your grammar, helping you perfect your language skills.

In this course, you will work toward language level B1+. By the end, you will be able to participate in conversations with greater ease, speak more fluently, and write more persuasively in German. After completing this course, you can continue with the German Course 5 (B1+ → B2-).

Approach

Each lesson begins with a brief discussion of homework. Then you work alternately in class, in groups or individually on interactive assignments. An important part of the course are speaking exercises in pairs. This way you actively practice speaking more fluently, expanding your vocabulary and applying nuance in real communication situations.

Teaching Materials

You will work with the book ‘Spektrum’ for language level B1+. This book is specially designed for adult learners and is supported with additional online exercises. For self-study, you will receive lesson materials and assignments, which will be discussed during the meetings. Before the start of the course, we will inform you how you can easily order the teaching materials so that you can start your lesson well prepared.

Teachers

You will be taught by an experienced teacher who has an eye for your learning goals and development points. You will receive targeted feedback on your language use, pronunciation and communication. The teacher guides you step by step and provides an enjoyable and interactive learning environment in which you make visible progress.

Certificate of Participation

You will receive a certificate of participation from us if you have actively participated in at least 80% of the meetings.

How do I know which German language level suits me?

To make sure you enrol at the right level, you can take our free placement test. This test will help you assess your current level of German. Once you’ve completed it, the test will be marked by one of our experienced teachers, who will provide you with personalised feedback. That way, you’ll know exactly which level suits you best.

Can I make up a missed German class?

Unfortunately, in group courses it is not possible to make up a missed lesson, because the lessons take place at fixed times for the whole group. Through the lesson materials, homework and lesson plan in MyBabel, you can work through the missed material independently so that you can continue to follow the course well.

Can I pay for my German course in installments?

You pay the course fee in a single payment. You can do this upon registration via iDEAL, credit card, or by having your employer pay the invoice.

What are the advantages of a group language course?

A group language course offers the opportunity to learn and practice with others. You benefit from interactive lessons, learn from the questions and experiences of fellow students, and have plenty of opportunity to use the language actively. In addition, the group dynamic often provides extra motivation and a pleasant learning environment.

What is a virtual classroom?

A virtual classroom is a live online language course in which you take lessons together with a teacher and other students. You participate via Zoom or Teams, for example, and actively practice during the lesson. This combines the interaction of a group lesson with the convenience of online learning. Many students choose this form because of its flexibility.
