French 5 course (A2 → A2+)

Level: Beginner (0/A2), Intermediate (A2/B1)

Have you followed the French level 4 course and do you want to further develop yourself? Or do you have knowledge of French in a different way and do you want to take your language skills to a higher level? In the French level 5 course you will work towards language level A2+.

About French 5

In the French Level 5 course, you will continue to build a good knowledge of French.

  • We cover current affairs in France and discuss what this means for both France and internationally.
    newspaper and magazine articles will be read and discussed during this course. French literature and poetry will also be discussed.
  • We will discuss French history and listen to chansons;
  • Each student will give a presentation on a subject that interests him or her.

This course follows on French level 4, but can also be taken separately if you have A2 level. Not sure what your language level is? Then take our free placement test.

Learning goals

In the French level 5 course you work towards language level A2+.

After completing this French course:

  • your speaking skills have improved, you can respond more adequately and participate in discussions.
  • you will have expanded your vocabulary.
  • you will have improved both your listening ad reading skills.

Method

  • In the course, we will use a variety of working methods, including presentations, class discussions and work in groups. We will also watch French television and read literature, texts and poetry, which we will then discuss.
  • The students have an active input in the lessons. The language of instruction is French, both oral and written.

Time investment

  • French 5 consists of 9 sessions of 1,5 hours at Babel in Utrecht or in the virtual classroom.
  • To ensure that you learn as much as possible from the classes, you should expect to spend approximately 2 to 3 hours per week on study and the completion of materials and assignments, which will be discussed during the classes.

Practical

  • The teacher will speak French as much as possible. Participants can ask questions in French or in Dutch.
  • You can order the necessary books for this course via our website’s Order Books page. The method contains a lot of (extra) online learning material, including listening exercises. You should make sure to have the book before the start of the first lesson.
  • You will receive a certificate if you attend at least 8 of the 9 classes.
