Korean 2 (A1– → A1-)
In this follow-up course, you will continue to develop your basic knowledge of the Korean language and culture and, step by step, build a solid foundation in Korean.
About the course Korean 2
Do you already have some basic knowledge of Korean and would you like to develop your skills further? In this course, you’ll build on what you’ve already learnt, whether in our Korean 1 course or elsewhere. You’ll learn to use basic grammar, different verb forms and levels of speech. As language and culture are closely linked, the focus isn’t solely on the linguistic aspect. You’ll also learn what is culturally appropriate in different situations.
In 9 Korean lessons:
- you’ll ask about destinations and purposes;
- you’ll use different verb forms;
- you’ll conjugate verbs and apply basic grammar;
- you’ll give detailed directions.
In the Korean 2 course, you’ll work towards language level A1-. Upon completion of this course, you’ll be ready for the follow-up course, Korean 3.

Method
Our teaching method combines a structured approach with practical teaching methods. The lessons are interactive, personalised, varied and practical. We always take your learning style, pace and level into account. Would you like to find out how we structure this course?
Approach
In the Korean 2 course, the teacher guides you step by step through the course material. The teacher explains vocabulary and grammar and supplements the lessons with additional examples. We expect you to complete the exercises in the workbook and to actively work on learning the vocabulary. Vocabulary tests are held throughout the course to monitor your progress.
The focus of this course is on speaking skills, but listening, reading and writing are also covered in depth. You will practise individually, in pairs and in small groups, in a safe learning environment where you can learn to use Korean with confidence. In the course, we use audiovisual materials and supplementary activities so that you can get to know the language in an interactive and fun way.
Teaching Materials
You will be using the textbook and workbook ‘Sogang Korean 1A (3rd Edition)’. For self-study, you will receive assignments and teaching materials to help you practise further at home; these assignments will be discussed during the sessions. Before the course begins, we will let you know how you can easily order the teaching materials, so that you can start your lessons well prepared.
Teachers
You will be taught by an experienced teacher who will guide you step by step as you learn the Korean language. You will receive regular, targeted feedback on your language use, so that you can learn to communicate with increasing confidence and fluency.
Certificate
You will receive a certificate of attendance from us if you have actively participated in at least 80 per cent of the sessions.
