Is Dutch your native language and would you like to improve texts related to your work or field of study? Then this course is perfect for you. You will learn to write clear, comprehensive and convincing texts for various types of readers.

About this course
This course is suitable for hbo and university educated students whose native language is Dutch. The classes will help you to write texts for your job or your study in Dutch more easily, like reports, e-mails and papers. You will learn how to build and structure a text and how to make it a coherent piece of writing. There will be a focus on concise and effective formulation and specific aspects of grammar, interpunction and spelling.
This course consists of six group meetings wherein aspects of the writing process in general will be covered and four follow-up classes wherein the focus will lie on the strong and weak points of your own texts. You will receive feedback on your writing and learn how to improve various aspects such as structure, style, grammatical form, interpunction and spelling.

Method
- Active participation is very important because your own writing is the starting point of the classes. We ask you regularly to write, make assignments and bring your own professional texts into the lessons.
Time investment
- This course consists of six general meetings of two hours, followed by four meetings of 1,5 hours that focus on your own writing. These meetings can be held at Babel in Utrecht or in the virtual classroom.
- For every session we expect you to dedicate three hours to homework
Practical
- The group will consist of 4 to 8 participants.
- The course material is included.
- Before the course starts, we ask you to write a text about a given subject. With this information the teacher can adjust the lesson plan to your writing needs.
- You will receive a certificate of attendance if you have attended at least 80% of the classes.
