General English Language Intake Assessment
In order to register for a course, you are first asked to take part in a language-level intake assessment. This process helps us to ensure that you are registered for a course that is suited to your language level and needs. Afterwards, you will be asked to fill out a self-assessment questionnaire (via a Google Form) for you to reflect on your English skills and the impact your English knowledge and use have on work-related activities. This self-assessment task has been designed based on the CEFR.

How long are the assessments and where do they take place?
The intake assessments take approximately 90 minutes, including a short break. The intake assessment is conducted fully online and is made up of 2 parts, first a written part and later an oral part. Ten minutes before your writing intake assessment is scheduled to take place, you will receive the written assignment you will need to complete and return to your assessor. You will have 50 minutes to do this followed by a 10-minute break. In addition, in the same email you will also receive a link inviting you to a virtual classroom for the oral part of the intake assessment, which takes place after the break. The oral intake assessment lasts around 30 minutes.
What is assessed?
During the intake assessment, assignments are placed in an international context. The assignments focus on the use of English in an international environment. You should expect to do some writing, reading, listening and speaking related to your job using professional language. You will begin with a written test, after which you will meet your assessor and have a talk with him/her.
When can I expect to receive information about my assessment and a recommended course?
Within 7 working days of the assessment, you will receive a report with an indication of your language level and a course recommendation.
What courses will be offered?
Based on your English language level, your assessor will recommend one of these courses:
- General English proficiency B1 to B2
- General English proficiency B2 to C1
- Teaching in English
- Workshop English for Email and Telephone B1-B2
- Workshop Writing & Grammar B2-C1
- Workshop Communication during meetings B2-C1
When will new time slots be added?
New time slots for assessments are added every 4 weeks. If the demand is high and all available time slots are filled before that time, extra time slots will be added and will appear in the booking module.
