Learn Portuguese for beginners

Would you like to start learning Portuguese? Then choose a Portuguese course for beginners at Babel. You will be introduced to this beautiful language in small groups. Together with fellow students, you will take online lessons led by an experienced language teacher. Did you know this about the Portuguese language?

• Portuguese is spoken by more than 200 million people worldwide.
• In 2009, three new letters were added to the alphabet: “K”, “W” and “Y”. In 2009, Portuguese-speaking countries around the world came together to sign a new agreement introducing the letters “K”, “W” and “Y”.
• Galician, spoken in north-western Spain, is closely related to Portuguese.
• European and Brazilian Portuguese differ considerably from each other. Brazilians even find it difficult to understand Portuguese. In Portugal, for example, they use the second-person pronouns tu and vós. But these two words are rarely heard in Brazil; they use você and vocês.
