In the Advanced Dutch Course Part 2, you will develop your general Dutch language skills from level B2+ to C1. You will learn not only to use the language correctly, but also to use it convincingly and fluently in a variety of situations.

In the Dutch for Advanced Learners – Part 2 course, you will work towards language level C1. You will further develop your reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills so that you can use Dutch fluently and flexibly. You will brush up on your grammar, expand your vocabulary, and learn to apply your language skills in even more contexts: from academic discussions to everyday conversations.
The texts and assignments relate to current social issues such as sustainability, climate, rights, philosophy, ethics, technology, and progress. During the sessions, you will actively practice your Dutch by participating in discussions, giving presentations, and writing assignments, so that your language use becomes more natural and confident.

Who is this course suitable for?
- If you have completed the Advanced Dutch (B2+) or Dutch for Medical Professionals (B2+) course.
- Or if you have already attained B2+ level through other means.
Have you recently (within the last three months) completed a preparatory course at Babel and passed the final exams? If so, you can proceed immediately. If not, we ask that you first take the free placement test. This will ensure that you are placed at the correct level.
What will you learn in this course?
In this course, you will work towards language level C1.
After completion:
- you will have stronger communication skills and will be more confident in conversations, discussions, and presentations
- you will be able to write well-structured, medium-length texts with ease
- you will use a richer vocabulary with more expressions and idiomatic language
- you will be better able to recognize the implicit meaning of complex texts
- you will express yourself more fluently and in a more varied way, both orally and in writing
Dutch to perfection
During the Advanced Dutch course, you will work alternately in small groups, in pairs, or independently. This variety keeps learning active and varied. Your teacher will provide intensive guidance and personal feedback that you can immediately put into practice. The Dutch to Perfection method has been developed for higher professional education and university graduates who are learning Dutch as a second language and is tailored to their learning pace and level of thinking.
You can also continue practicing outside of class. The online learning environment gives you access to video clips, vocabulary lists, and pronunciation exercises. This allows you to strengthen your Dutch in a practical and inspiring way.
Classes and self-study
The Advanced Dutch course part 1 consists of 16 lessons of 1 hour and 45 minutes and 1 test session of 2 hours and 45 minutes. This can be done at Babel in Utrecht or online in the virtual classroom.
To make real progress, we ask you to invest time outside the class as well: approximately 3 to 4 hours per week of self-study. You will receive assignments and teaching materials to help you continue practicing at home and reinforce your own learning process.

- Teaching method: Dutch to Perfection, the book can be purchased here.
- Certificate: you will receive a certificate of participation if you attend at least 13 out of 16 lessons.
