Russian 5 course (A1+ → A2)

Level: Intermediate (A2/B1)

Do you already speak quite a bit of Russian and would you like to develop yourself further? In Russian level 5, you work towards language level A2.

About Russian 5

In this course, there is a lot of focus on speaking skills. In addition, we cover the following topics:

  • All cases of nouns in their singular and plural forms.
  • Inflection of adverbs and adjectives with exceptional endings, style and idioms.
  • Russian literature. Excerpts from famous Russian classics will be covered.

This course is suitable if you have completed Russian level 4 or if you have attained level A2- through other means. Not sure what your language level is? Then take our free placement test.

Learning goals

In Russian level 5, you work towards language level A2.

By the end of the course you will:

  • have a complete picture of the main grammatical elements of the Russian language; at the same time, you will be able to deal with exceptions. This will enable you to study the Russian language independently afterwards if necessary.
  • have become acquainted with the great Russian writers and poets.
  • be able to hold a conversation on a wide variety of topics.

This course follows on Russian level 4, but can also be taken separately if you have A1+ level. Not sure what your language level is? Then take our free placement test.

Method

  • In this course, we work with the book ‘Paspoort voor Rusland’. You will need both the text and workbook. You can order the necessary materials for this course via our website’s Order Books page. You should make sure to have all required materials before the start of the first lesson.
  • The teacher will use his/her own material to put into practise what has been learned.

Time investment

  • Russian 5 consists of 9 sessions of 1,5 hours at Babel in Utrecht or in the virtual classroom.
  • To ensure that you learn as much as possible from the classes, you should expect to spend approximately 2 to 3 hours per week on study and the completion of materials and assignments, which will be discussed during the classes.

Practical

  • The teacher will speak Russian as much as possible. Participants can ask questions in Russian or in Dutch.
