Are you at around B2 level, but find it difficult to write clear, well-structured texts? Do you find it difficult to strike the right tone or formulate your message clearly? Does writing a text take a lot of time and energy?
During the Language Booster, you will work intensively on writing different types of texts. You will practise structuring your text, choosing the right tone and style, and learn how to better engage your reader in your story. You will also discover how to use AI as a smart tool to help you write.
This Language Booster is for you if you want to write with more precision, ease and confidence – at work or in your private life.
About the course
The Language Booster Writing course helps you learn to write more powerfully and effectively. The focus is on the writing process: how to turn an idea into a clear text, how to construct your sentences and how to keep your reader engaged.
During the course, you will work on a series of writing assignments for your portfolio. Each assignment will be assessed with a pass or fail. In lesson 8, you will complete two final assignments in class, for which you will also receive a mark. You will complete the course if you pass all portfolio assignments and the final assignment.
The course is intended for anyone who has previously taken our advanced Dutch (B2) course but wants to develop their writing skills further. If you have not taken this course, please take our (free) placement test first. This will ensure that you are placed at the right level.
Our courses are specially designed for people with higher professional and university education. This means that the learning pace is quite fast.
Learning objectives
In this course, you will work step by step to improve your writing skills at B2 level. After completing the course:
- You will know how to write a structured text
- You will know the steps to quickly write an email or short text
- You will use punctuation in a targeted manner
- You will be able to write clearly and convincingly
- You will write with more confidence and enjoyment
Method
You will learn effectively because you will work with teaching materials designed by Babel both at home and in class. During the first lesson, you will also receive a reader that we will mainly use during the lessons. You will do preparatory work at home so that there is plenty of time to practise and deepen your knowledge during the lessons.
Time investment
The course consists of eight sessions of one hour and 45 minutes at Babel in Utrecht.
To ensure that you get the most out of the course, we expect you to spend four hours a week on self-study. At home, you will complete assignments in preparation for the next session.
Practical
- The course is conducted in Dutch.
- The course specifically prepares you for level B2 in the writing component. If you successfully complete the course, you will have reached the level required for the State Examination in Dutch Programme II in the area of writing. It is important to note that this TaalBooster is not an exam training. During the lessons, we do not practise the specific writing exercises that appear in the exam.
- You will receive a certificate if you have attended at least 80% of the sessions and completed the homework assignments.
