Taalbooster Writing B1 Dutch

Are you already at B1 level, but do you feel unsure about writing emails and reports? Would you like to practise structuring and constructing a text? Would you like to work on the tone of your message and get to the point more quickly? Would you like to improve your spelling and punctuation?
During the Language Booster Writing B1 course, you will practise writing texts and perfecting them. You will learn to communicate effectively in writing at B1 level in a short period of time. You will also learn how to use AI as a useful tool. This Language Booster Writing course is for you if you want to write with greater ease and confidence in your work or private life.
About the course
The Language Booster Writing course brings you to level B1 in writing. More than in the general B1 course, attention is paid to structuring a text and practising writing.
During the course, you will receive various writing assignments for your portfolio, for which you will receive a pass or fail mark. During lesson 8, you will complete two final assignments in class, for which you will also receive a mark. The course must be completed with a pass mark for all portfolio assignments and a pass mark for the final assignment.
The course is suitable for anyone who has completed our Intermediate Dutch (B1) course but whose writing skills are still lagging behind. If you have not completed our B1 course, it is important that you take our free entrance test. This will ensure that you are placed at the right level.
Our courses are aimed at higher professional education and university graduates, which means that the learning pace is relatively high.
Learning objectives
In this course, you will work on strengthening your writing skills at language level B1.
After completing the Language Booster:
- You will know how to write a good, targeted text
- You will know the steps you need to take to write an e-mail or letter
- You will have a better eye for punctuation and coherence in a text
- You will be able to write concisely
- You will write with more confidence and enjoyment
Method
You will learn effectively by working with teaching materials designed by Babel, both at home and in class. During the first lesson, you will receive a reader that we will mainly use during the lessons. You will do preparatory work at home so that there is plenty of time during the meetings to practise and deepen your knowledge.
Time investment
The course consists of eight sessions of one hour and 45 minutes at Babel in Utrecht.
To ensure that you get the most out of the course, we expect you to spend four hours a week on self-study. At home, you will complete assignments in preparation for the next session.
Practical information
- The course is conducted in Dutch.
- The course specifically guides you to level B1 for the writing component. If you successfully complete the course, you will have reached the level required for the State Examination in Dutch Programme I in the field of writing. It is important to note that this TaalBooster is not an exam training. During the lessons, we do not practise the specific writing exercises that appear in the exam.
- You will receive a certificate if you have attended at least 80% of the sessions and completed the homework assignments.
