About Arabic 6

In the Arabic Level 6 course, you will learn to express yourself even better in Arabic. During the Arabic Level 6 course, you learn to expand previously acquired knowledge, vocabulary and grammar in order to communicate in more detail. You will further practice the basic rules of grammar by applying them in concrete assignments. In this course, for example, you prepare a presentation in Arabic and write short letters.

In class and in small groups, you actively practice having conversations in different situations and on different topics, including travel, food, clothing and education. This knowledge is immediately applicable in everyday life.

The course is suitable if you have completed Arabic level 5 or if you have achieved level A2- through other means. Not sure what your language level is? Then take our free placement test.

Learning goals

In Arabic level 6, you will work towards language level A2.

After completing this course you:

  • will have sufficient language skills to make a short presentation in Arabic.
  • can write short texts in Arabic on familiar, personal topics.
  • can ask for advice on a particular subject and give instructions.
  • can participate in a conversation about travel, food, clothing, education and current events.

Method

  • As a teaching method, we use the book Mastering Arabic 2. This method contains a varied range of texts and exercises. Thanks to the accompanying website and app, you will be able to learn the Arabic language in an interactive and constructive way.
  • During the Arabic level 6 course, we actively apply and repeat the previously acquired material from Arabic 1 to 5. In addition, we expand our knowledge by continuing to work with the book Mastering Arabic 2 (up to chapter 9). Make sure you have repeated the knowledge from chapters 1 to 4 before starting the course.
  • The class starts with a brief review of the previous lesson and answering questions on homework. Work is then done in class, individually or in groups on the textbook exercises and additional tasks. A multitude of interactive work formats are used during the lessons to actively involve the learners.
  • All skills are covered during the lessons, but the emphasis is on speaking and listening skills. The language of instruction is Arabic as much as possible and authentic texts and videos are used as much as possible.

Time investment

  • Arabic 6 consists of 9 sessions of 1,5 hours at Babel in Utrecht or in the virtual classroom.
  • To ensure that you learn as much as possible from the classes, you should expect to spend approximately 2 to 3 hours per week on study and the completion of materials and assignments, which will be discussed during the classes.

Practical

  • The teacher will speak Arabic as much as possible. Participants can ask questions in Arabic or in Dutch.
  • You can order the necessary books for this course via our website’s Order Books page. You should make sure to have the book before the start of the first lesson.
