Looking for an advanced Japanese language course? Or do you want to take the JLPT exam? Our Japanese level 6 course is suitable for anyone who has mastered the sound script kana and around 50 – 80 kanji without much difficulty.

About Japanese 6

Japanese level 6 is suitable for more advanced learners. You should have already studied around 80 hours of Japanese or taken lessons up to level 5. The lesson plan includes exercises to prepare for the JLPT exam N5.

Learning goals

In Japanese level 6, you will work towards language level N5 according to the JLPT guidelines of The Japan Foundation. The course is suitable if you have completed the Japanese Level 5 course or if you have completed at least 80 independent study hours. After Japanese Level 6, it is possible to try to take the JLPT N5 exam.

After completing the course you:

  • will have the vocabulary to reach language level N5 according to JLPT.
  • can pass the listening section of language level N5 according to JLPT guidelines.
  • have expanded your characters to the desired N5 level of JLPT (about 120 pieces). You will learn the characters in homework assignments, reading work and various online texts. You need to spend about 3-5 hours a week on homework to pass exam.

Method

  • We cover formal and informal grammar following the Japanese for Busy People 2 method.
  • There are many listening and speaking exercises.
  • We go into the on the different forms of politeness.
  • We aim to go through pages 50 – 100 with additional online resources. Kanji up to page 94 and 95. If the pace of the group is a bit faster, we will adjust it.

Time investment

  • Japanese level 6 6 consists of 9 sessions of 1,5 hours at Babel in Utrecht or in the virtual classroom.
  • To ensure that you learn as much as possible from the classes, you should expect to spend approximately 2 to 3 hours per week on study and the completion of materials and assignments, which will be discussed during the classes.

Practical

  • The teacher will speak Japanese as much as possible. Participants can ask questions in Japanese or in Dutch.
  • You can order the necessary books for this course via our website’s Order Books page. You should make sure to have the book before the start of the first lesson.
