Summer School Writing for Publication (C1 -> C1+)

In this Summer School course you will work on your own completed draft, improving it step by step. By the end of the course you will become aware of your language needs through analysis, practical tips, critical reading and discussion.
During your academic career publishing your work is of great importance. Following this writing for publication course will enable you to improve your written academic discourse by increasing your awareness of organization, cohesion and use of language.
In this Utrecht Summer School course you will work on your own completed draft, improving it step by step. By the end of the course you will become aware of your language needs through analysis, practical tips, critical reading and discussion.
To gain increased knowledge of academic writing skills for publishing an academic article. In addition, you will have improved your own written academic article and will be more confident about your own abilities in these areas.
The course focuses on:
- expanding your academic vocabulary
- improving academic writing skills
- revising knowledge of grammar
- expressing ideas in an academic format
- tips for submitting your paper
During the course you work on your own academic paper / (experimental) research report. You are offered the opportunity to hand in part of the different sections of your text, which are read by a fellow participant and corrected by the language trainer.
You will know exactly what your strengths and weaknesses are and how to overcome these. Your own texts will be used as a basis for the writing assignments and you will receive feedback on your work from both the language trainer and the other participants.

The course is suitable for people who have reached CEFR level B2+.
You are required to do a placement test. This test consists of two parts: multiple choice and writing. A teacher will assess your language skills. On the basis of your test result you will get an advice about which course is suitable for you.
